First Race! CHSAA#1: Vail

Ladies and gentlemen, the season has officially begun. On Saturday morning we drove over to the Vail golf course to line up for the first CHSSA/JOQ race of the season.

And boy was it cold. Mark and Hannes were in full-on survival mode out there at 9AM when the temperature was below zero and (get this) dropping! It's pretty hard to think happy thoughts when you paw through your wax box and can't find anything cold enough. Luckily, Mark dove deep into his wax box as the horrible inversion descended upon the golf course and came out with a tin of XF30. Then, the start was delayed an hour so we all ran into the warmth of the lodge. Saved!
The kiddos did a great job of toughing it out on a day when your nose would freeze off if you didn't hold on to it. Zoe and Jin-Yeop had great races and we all went home with smiles on our faces. Hilary and Ross came along to cheer on and help keep the spirit alive.

Congratulations to Jin-Yeop for his first race ever!
Happy holidays!

Spring Gulch is open for business

What kind of business, you ask? SKIING BUSINESS! The trails are covered and cold and we had some extra blue kick wax days last week. We're in finals now, so we won't have another chance to go up there as a team until January, but get out the door and go check it out.
The first day up there saw some brave descents of Big Dipper through the powder by our team members. Careful of that barbwire...

Below is a picture of Mark giving the kiddos a pep-talk.
